Cliveden House in Berkshire

Located just an hour outside of London this stunning Victorian mansion was built in 1851 and has served as home to both the second Duke of Sutherland and the American millionaire William Waldorf Astor. Today its a 47-room hotel run by the National Trust. There are two on-site restaurants as well as two restored vintage boats available for guests who want to explore the surrounding countryside or picnic on the Thames for an additional cost.

Beaverbrook in Surrey

Originally built in 1866, Beaverbrook derives its name from its most well-known resident, Lord Beaverbrook, a publisher, politician and former Ministry of Aircraft Production for Britain during World War II.

In 2011, his home and two of the surrounding buildings were transformed into a hotel and restored to reflect the period when the politician would have lived here. Artwork abounds in and outside of the home, including a sculpture of the British single-seat fighter aircraft known as a Spitfire, which Beaverbrook doubled the production of during WWII. Theres also a spa, four restaurants, a private cinema (purported to be the first home cinema in Britain),and an activities program that includes a survival skills academy.

The Grove in Hertfordshire

The history of The Grove dates back far before the construction of the beautiful Georgian manor that houses the present-day hotel. Archeologists have found artifacts on the grounds dating to 3000 BC.

Formerly the home of the Earls of Clarendon, the interior of the hotel is quite modern. Even so, there are plenty of activities here to transport you to a bygone era. The hotel offers activities like clay pigeon shooting, hawking, archery, horseback riding and other activities that wouldnt be out of the ordinary in the era when the manor was built.

Lime Wood in Hampshire

A Georgian manor house, surrounded by old wood forests might seem an unlikely place for a music festival, and yet the Lime Wood Hotelis one of the locations for the Smoked & Uncut summer music festival. When not the location of a major party, the house has a quiet elegance that blends past and present, with art-filled grounds, a luxury spa and a working Victorian greenhouse.

Goodwood in Sussex

The estate at Goodwood has been home to the Dukes of Richmond for hundreds of years. In fact, the 11th Duke of Richmond and Gordonowns the property to this day. The Duke and his family live on the property in Goodwood House, while guests stay in the hotel portion of the estate.

The Goodwood Hotel offers stylish rooms and four restaurants. It also makes a great stay for adventure seekers as its the location of several motorsport and horse racing events, and offers flying and race car driving experiences to guests for an additional cost.

The hotels interior on the other hand, pays homage to the building's much older roots, the manor itself was built in 1598, while still ensuring that the 17 hotel rooms still offer every comfort necessary for modern visitors.

Hambleton Hall in Rutland

Built in 1881, Hambleton Hall still feels like acozy English country home. There are 17 acres of grounds here to stroll through, including a walled kitchen garden that supplies some of the produce for the estates Michelin star restaurant.

Grantley Hall in North Yorkshire

Originally built in the mid-18th century, this 47 room manor blends old and new with a more modern luxury interior. Easy Meatball Casserole

This is a quick and easy dinner twist on an old-time favorite, meatball casserole. I have found that more rice increases the density and less rice makes it more like a soup.

Easy Meatball Casserole Ingredients

  • (16 ounce) package frozen Italian-style meatballs

  • 1 (15 ounce) can asparagus, drained

  • 1 (14.5 ounce) can chicken broth

  • 1 (10.75 ounce) can tomato soup

  • cup uncooked instant rice

  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning

How to Make Easy Meatball Casserole

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

  2. Mix meatballs, asparagus, chicken broth, tomato soup, instant rice, and Italian seasoning in a large bowl. Pour into a 9x13-inch baking dish.

  3. Bake in the preheated oven until rice is tender, about 30 minutes.

Easy Meatball Casserole Reviews

  • Definitely use the instant rice. I used long grain because I had it and it definitely takes longer than 30 minutes. But the flavor was good and it was very easy and quick.

Milky Tea Reviews

  • (The name made me expect tea to be the main ingredient.) At times I drink hot milk with a couple of packets of Equal and a splash of vanilla in place of dessert. It tastes like a hot milkshake and is so satisfying. When I was a kid, Mom sweetened warm milk with sugar for my sister and me to have at bedtime. If the honey is too sweet, try a sprinkle of sugar or a sweetener. Enjoy

  • Wonderful drink I found it while looking for something for cold nights, well this is the one I will try it with a little coffee next time.

  • This isnt the worst thing Ive ever tasted but its darned near close. Id recommend reducing the honey by at least half or skipping it altogether and going with sugar instead.

  • I love this recipe - its so simple and comforting when its cold and rainy. Add a sprinkle of nutmeg for a spicier variation.

  • Comforting and reminds me of family/home. Thanx for sharing this FAB recipe

  • My father used to make warm milk and honey for me when I was little, so this reminds me of that. This drink is very good if you want something warm and comforting at night, but cant drink tea (or coffee) with caffeine too close to bedtime. Or if youre a little hungry, since milk is filling. The vanilla is a good addition, but not necessary, in my opinion. However, this drink is very, very sweet. I will definitely reduce the amount of honey next time. I was a little misled by the "Milky Tea" name at first, but thats all right.

  • This is very soothing and yummy. I put 1 tablespoon of honey, and that was sweet enough for me. This is great

  • Good recipe

  • Deliciously sweet I used only 1 Tbsp of honey. It tastes like white hot cocoa

  • Thanks for the recipe but I didnt like the tea at all.

  • This was delicious Its chilly here in VA and this drink really hit the spot. I dipped a chamomile lemon tea bag in mine a few times just to give it a "tea" taste and it was great. This is a good alternative to coffee. For those milk and tea lovers out there..this is for you. Stay Warm

  • Although Im not a honey person I do like it in tea. Im off today and I was surfing for something hot and comforting to drink as I cant seem to warm up no matter what I do. It got down to zero last night here in Jersey. This was really good with the addition of my nice warm heating pad and a cozy blanket

  • When I was little, a german lady madethis for me (without the vanilla, which is a lovely addition) when I hada sore throat, it really soothes. She told me that when she was a young girlin her homeland, her mother and grandmotherwould make this for her.I forgot all about this sweet comfortdrink MemoriesNice for a "nightcap" too

  • 1 Tablespoon of honey I thought was enough to sweeten the drink. It has a warm yummy milkshake taste without all the sugar like in a real milkshake.

  • Very soothing and warm. I am definately going to make my kids drink it when they have a sore throat. I liked it and my three year old liked it. My husband even liked it and I didnt expect him to, because he isnt too fond of honey. I havent tried it on my 8 year old, but she loves honey. Yum to my tum. Think I will go make a glass right now

  • This does taste like a milk shake (a warm one-which isnt a bad thing). It was a little too sweet for my taste, so next time I will cut back on the honey.

  • This kind of tastes like a warm milkshake, not that that is gross, the kids even liked it, I thought it was o.k.. Good on a cold winters night.

  • Yummy and soothing

  • This was a wonderful hot drink. It was kind of similar to a chai. I knew the 2 T of honey would be too much for us, so I reduced it to 1 T and it was perfect. This would be even better on chilly winter nights.

  • This was a very good tea, and I really like that its made with just 3 ingredients that I always have on hand. Thanks for sharing.

  • Really nice drink, and perfect for kids Its rainy and miserable here today, and my 8 yr old son came home from school all wet and cold. I made this for him, and he just loved it. It has a frothy type taste to it, and I can see that it would be very soothing when feeling under the weather. Thanks for sharing, Danielle

  • I nice calming drink. Great before bed.

  • Oh dear, this is just not good. It actually made me feel sick. I dont know what went wrong..there are only 3 ingredients, all of which I like. But the quantities were all wrong...way too sweet with all that honey, and the vanilla Yuck It was SOOO overpowering. I just went back to check again that it really calls for a full teaspoon because thats just WAY too much. You know what the worst thing is? This smells DELIGHTFUL. Dont believe your nose. I took 4 sips, because I kept thinking it had to taste good when it smelled so good. My husband even came in from the other room to see what Id made, and tried it despite my warning (he hated it, too). Sorry, but I think next time Ill stick with my own tried and true "recipe": omit the honey and vanilla from this recipe and serve ice cold, preferable with a chocolate chip cookie on the side.

  • Wonderful recipe Perfect for cold or rainy days. I spiced it up by added a pinch of nutmeg and its great. However, I did find 2 tablespoons of honey two sweet, so I used 1 tablespoon and two drops.

  • One of my favorite drinks at the end of the day. I use fat-free milk and sometimes, Ill add a little nutmeg. Very relaxing.

  • Before I made this I looked at the comments and almost ALL of them were saying,"...only used one tablespoon because two is to much sugar for me."so I used one tablespoon and it STILL was a little bit sugary I hope this helps

  • Love it. Added a pinch of cinnamon to the mix.

  • A nice surprise, though the name is misleading. I made one mug per directions and it was too sweet/intense, so I made a second one with about 1 tbs honey and 3 drops vanilla, and it was much more drinkable. In fact, toned down it was very good, and will be a nice cold day drink when I want something sweeter than tea but not as rich as hot chocolate. I always like things sweetened with honey, it feels more natural/wholesome to me.

  • Starbucks offers tea lattes, which I love, but they are pricey. I take a tea bag and steep it with this recipe. It tastes almost identical to the more expensive version.

  • This was pretty good. It was too sweet for me though, next time I will only use one tablespoon of honey.

  • I thought the honey was way too sweet and that the vanilla was way too strong and alcohol tasting, so I halved both. I also added some pumpkin spice coffee creamer and cinnamon. Delicious

  • Nice recipe, but add honey after milk is hot--microwaving destroys honeys nutritional values.

  • This recipe is similar to "Hot Vanilla" and "Moms Warm Milk" which are on this website too. But, HOT VANILLA is my FAVORITE I think Milky Tea is good but missing something. I used flavored honey but it was still missing a spice. I prefer Hot Vanilla due to the health benefits of the cinnamon in the recipe. Either way, this drink fills you up after a light breakfast or as a calming, soothing, night cap.

  • I made this twice, exactly as written. Id never had anything like it. Its deceptively simple, and was very tasty - a nice surprise. I think I might agree with the many reviewers who reduced the amounts of honey and perhaps the vanilla. I thought maybe those flavors were a little too strong. But overall I loved this drink. It served as a nice nightcap, with a taste reminiscent of white hot chocolate. I highly recommend this.

  • I would change the name to Flavored Milk since it has nothing to do with tea. Not a fan.

  • YUM Great soothing drink for a dreary day... I didnt quite put in 2 tbsp of honey. For the people who gave it bad reviews, Id recommend adjusting the honey & vanilla to suit your personal taste.

  • This is very good tea-less tea.

  • My mother used to call this a warm hug

  • It was very very good

  • Mmmm... This is so good, Im hooked My 5 yr. old also loves it. Thanks for the recipe

  • A simple treat that is very good. I think a little ready whip on top would be perfect decoration without overpowering the flavor.

  • I dont like honey so I used maple syrup instead and because maple syrup is sweater I only used 1 tablespoon it tasted amazing and Im glad it worked my ways as well as yours.

  • I loved it i didnt expect it to be as good as it was but it turned out real well. milky but sweet, although it was a bit too sweet. ill definitely make it again. DEFINITELY but maybe ill use 1tsp instead ;). thanks for the recipe

  • Very simple and very good. I dont normally like the smell of warmed milk but this was nice. I omitted the vanilla and used a little less honey and it was warm and tasty, I might try it with vanilla next time.

  • I did not care for this.

  • Smells lovely but too sweet. I strongly suggest reducing the amount of honey and vanilla. I too was worried about the amount of vanilla when putting everything together. Ill try this again with less sweetness.

  • This is a wonderfully simple and sweet recipe. Quick, no fuss, and you can evenbe creative with it. I ran out of vanilla extract so I used 1/3 Half&Half with 2/3 milk, a little less honey (approx 1 1/2 tablespoons), and about a tablespoon of real Vermont Maple syrup. (Im a Vermonter and grew up with it, so its a kind of comfort treat.) The half&half gave it that creamy taste, and helped balance the sweet flavors of honey and syrup.

  • Ive made this for a while and love it everytime i do. Great and simple recipie :

  • I followed the recipe exactly until it came to the honey. It was a little bit to sweet with the exact amount of honey but if you add just a little less, then it is the most fantastic think in the world I drink it right before bed and it really helps me fall asleep fast. I really love it.

  • For the amount of ingredients listed and the time it took to make, this is worth a try. It is nice tasting, something different if you dont want cocoa.

  • Sooo yummy Sometimes I like to brew a black tea teabag with it, but it is still divine as is

  • I really enjoyed this drink. I added half a pack of hot cocoa powder and and i really enjoyed it more lol. It was a little sweet, but i love it that way.

  • It did not tast verry good, to sweet with not that much flavor.

  • A couple of suggestions, first either cut honey to 1 tbs or substitute agave nectar for the honey. Second, to make this frothy and light, heat 1/2 of the milk in the microwave safe mug; then take the other 1/2 of the milk and put it in a large glass jar with a lid and shake for 30 seconds until frothy. Remove the lid and microwave for 20-30 seconds and top off the milk mixture in the mug

  • This hit the spot. I have been looking for an alternative to hot cocoa and this is it Sweeter than tea and a super treat. I did add cinnamon for a bit of spice and surprise. So easy to make and the perfect nightcap =)

  • Used 1 Tbsp. honey b/c of the other reviews, and it was PERFECT. Deliciously sweet and creamy and comforting

  • This is a delicious drink, and is great to have when it is cold outside 2 tablespoons of honey is way too sweet for me; I used 1 tablespoon, and it was perfect. Thanks for the recipe

Black Bean Cakes Reviews

  • Hello All: I added one large egg and 3/4 cup of cornmeal. It made it easier to control the patties. I put them on a cookie sheet using parchment paper, then I sprayed a little pam on each pattie. I baked them on 350 for about 30 minutes they came out wonderful and I cut the fat.

  • This is delicious. I used canned black beans and needed to add some bread crumbs in order to roll into balls. I put them in a tortilla with some tomato and sour cream and had as a main dish.

  • These were good. For those of you whose cakes fell apart, your oil probably wasnt hot enough. Tip: when you think the oil is heated in the skillet, toss in a pinch of flour, if it sizzles, then its ready.

  • I dont know if it was the canned beans I used or if the recipes ingredients failed to bind the cakes together. ? They were even too sticky to come off the wax paper (as recipe indicated to press between). They fell apart turning and I did not like the texture much. I think it would have been better if the beans were not mixed until smooth, but instead left a little "chunky". The spices used had a very good flavor and a creamy sauce is an excellent accompaniement to the black bean flavor- but the sauce was quite plain. I made another batch of sauce blending roasted red peppers, heavy cream and cayenne pepper;liked it much better. I would try again, only to see if dried beans binded better and with a more flavorful sauce. sorry...

  • The cakes were very tasty, but way to soft. It was very hard to turn them over in the pan. I added 2 tsp of cornmeal to the mix, but next time Ill also add 1 egg.

  • Really tasty I used canned beans and they came out a little soft, but Ill definitely try again

  • The taste was good, and the sauce fine. My patties didnt fall apart, but they didnt really seem to cook, either. They only formed the most barely perceptible crust, and were still completely soft inside, even though I had them in the pan for nearly 10 minutes. Not sure what went wrong - the oil should definitely have been hot enough.

  • When people say these cakes fall apart if you follow the recipe, they must really mean it. Im usually good at pattie recipes so I thought I could make them work, but the consistency was wasnt right.

  • Like others I felt the consistancy was a little too soft so I added some cornmeal to make them easier to handle. I skipped the cilantro, (not a fan)cut back on the cumin and used canned beans. End result was good and it made a nice healthy lunch. Thank you Donna

  • I had black bean cakes for the first time recently. They were so good, I decided to give them a try. This recipe would have been better if they added some sort of "paste" such as cornmeal.

  • I did not make the sauce for the top so it was vegan. I didnt have fresh cilantro and was excited to try it so i did this. 3/4 cup masked black beans, 1/4 cup chopped onion, 1/2 tbl minced garlic, dash chili pepper, dash cayenne, 1 tsp dried cilantro, and 1/2 tsp cumin. Then i cut prtion in half and made into balls. After that i squished them lightly so it was about 2 inches across and 1 1/2 inches tall. They didnt fall apart this way and they were soooo good Thank you for this amazing idea. Im going to make them into "meat"balls. Also if you have problems with stickyness its because your beans are too wet. They need to be very drained and dont use canned, those are slimy and gross. Plus its cheaper to do it yourself.

  • Good. Ill make them again but not amazing. They are a healthy alternative to beef. For the record, I didnt fry them though, I baked them. Maybe that changed the flavor a bit.

  • Tasty, especially with the sauce. The only thing I wish Id realized before making this was just how much this recipe would make - in a family of two we have maybe ten dinners worth of black bean cakes.

  • I made them too big, fell apart in the pan, not so good.

  • This needs the following changes:1) One large egg + 1/2 cup corn meal to bind2) One (or two) cloves of minced garlic (KEY) sauteed with an onion and green pepper until soft . Add it to the mixture for extra flavor and health prior to forming balls.4) For the topping- forget the yogurt. I mixed Mayo with Chipotle peppers (to taste). So much more flavorful and authentic.

  • I liked them, but wish I read the reviews and suggestions more carefully. I did wait until the oil was hot. I used coconut oil, so not sure if that had any effect. I found that if I cooked them TOO long and in TOO much oil, they fell apart. When I cooked them briefly and in just enough oil to season that pan, they were more manageable. I try to avoid corn products, so dont know if Ill try the cornmeal, but perhaps bread crumbs would help. Although keeping them thicker might help too. Flavor was great, although, like others, I dont really like cilantro. I added onion and garlic powder instead. For the sauce, I used non-fat greek yogurt, unsweetened almond milk and a touch of mayonaise. Instead of cayenne pepper, I used Tastefully Simples Fiesta Party Dip Mix. I ate one patty with the sauce and the other I ate as a "burger" on a whole wheat bun. It worked well for that. Ill try this again.
